What is the deal with the rooster?

GOOD QUESTION.

The rooster has actually been extensively used in the history of Christianity. It first symbolized the denial by Peter of Jesus during Jesus' trial and execution. It reminded early Christians of the sin and weakness that inhabits all of us.

In the middle ages, people began to put roosters on weathervanes (on the top of barns) as a reminder for people to think about their lives and wake up to the spiritual reality that exists.

We love the connection with church history but also that a rooster is known for announcing a new day, proclaiming that once again the sun has risen and life is restarted. At Resurrection Church, we believe that in Jesus all things get made new and the rooster continually reminds us of that truth.

Are you a cult?

NO.
