Psalm 75
Thankful for the Judge
Psalm 75 invites us to a kind of thankfulness we rarely consider. In this sermon, we are led to give thanks not just for gifts and blessings, but for God's justice and judgment. The psalm opens with a call to communal gratitude, rooted in remembrance of God's wondrous deeds. As it unfolds, we hear God's voice promising to judge with equity at the time He has appointed, even as the pillars of the world seem to sway. This message warns against pride, reminding us that no human strength can stand against God's verdict. Yet it also points us to hope. Though the cup of God’s wrath is real, Jesus drank it in our place. Thankfulness, then, is not a lighthearted list of comforts, but a humble, worshipful response to the one who steadies the world, silences the arrogant, and spares the guilty. The question is not simply whether we are grateful, but whether our gratitude has grown deep enough to include even the justice of God
