Romans 13:8-14
Love, Wake Up, and Put On Jesus
In view of God’s abundant mercy, Romans 13 calls us to love our neighbours and fulfill the heart of God’s law. But genuine love requires more than simply avoiding wrongdoing. We must wake up to the urgency of our faith, remembering that Christ’s return draws nearer and our time is limited. Paul urges us to cast off the works of darkness, including drunkenness, sexual immorality, quarrelling, and jealousy, and instead put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Like clean clothes replacing what is filthy, our old ways must give way to a life shaped by Christ. As we remain connected to Jesus, he equips us to resist sin, love others, and reflect his goodness in our everyday lives.
