Romans 12:1-8
Living in the Mercy of God
Romans 12 marks a turning point in Paul’s letter, moving from what God has done to how we should live in response. Because of God’s mercy, we are called to present our whole lives to him, allowing our minds to be renewed rather than conforming to the ways of the world. Paul then calls the church to think soberly about the gifts God has given each person and to use those gifts for the good of the whole body. Christian life is not abstract or confined to religious activities. It reaches into everyday life and calls us to offer ourselves to God again and again. God has prepared good things for his people to do, and he delights when we step into the work he has given us.
